From the many manuals I have collected over the years, a truly solid hunting knife/ skinning knife is many things. Here are a few quotes from some of my favorites.
“Use a knife with at blade at least four inches long, a guard, and a large handle. A small knife can turn sideways in your hand when it hits bone. A butcher’s skinning knife is ideal.”
“A sharp knife will actually reduce bad cuts and will make the entire procedure easier. Take your time when dressing a buck, mistakes due to haste will often require you to make a trip to the...

1.) The Roadmap To A Staggering $10,000 Gold And $1,000 Silver: If you look at the euro, it’s not going to survive. At some point European investors will realize that and they will flee the euro into gold. It’s the same with the yen. The Japanese economy has no chance of surviving and so at some point the Japanese will start buying gold. People in the U.S. will also turn to gold as the dollar starts falling. And there will not be enough gold or silver to satisfy the massive increase in demand. The only way to satisfy demand will be through a higher price.
Current events have revealed some “bleak” news, almost on a daily basis. Let us look at some of the upcoming events that we need to be aware of:
Today – September 30: The primary “window of opportunity” for a Russian invasion of Ukraine and/or western Europe; heavy rainfall in the month of October will leave the ground too soft for armored and mechanized units to operate an offensive effectively in the region(s).
September 30 – October 7: There will arise problems with the U.S. Dollar, possibly involving some kind of “currency exchange” as SDR’s (Special Drawing Rights) are attempted to be instituted by the IMF within the Federal Reserve and the U.S. Banking System.
October 1: Control of the Internet will be effectively handed off by Obama via the Department of Commerce to foreign control (primarily Russia and China).
November 8: “Super Tuesday,” a.k.a. Election Day in the U.S. We already know the potential for fraud and civil unrest.
These are some of the “main events” to take note of and monitor closely. North Korea has been testing missiles and they set off a nuclear device last Friday, 9/9/16. The threat of EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse) from them is very real, along with the same capabilities from China, Russia, and potentially from Iran. In addition, there are several “hot zones” that can morph into a full-blown conflict and potentially escalate into war, these hot zones being the South China Sea and the islands contested between China and Japan, the two Koreas, Syria, and Ukraine.
What can you, the reader, do about these situations? From a personal perspective, you can do much to increase your chances of survival for yourself and your family. Here are some steps, “down and dirty,” to take to prepare yourself if any of these situations turn into a full-blown SHTF scenario. We’re going to mention these steps (not necessarily in order) and field questions from you in the Comments Section of this blog. Before this, let us point out the crucial step:
Now we’re not going “in-depth” with the steps. Most of you know them and have used or are using them, and to do an analysis on each item is beyond the scope of this piece.
For hundreds of years, maybe even longer, our grannies and grandfathers relied on simple household items to heal. For that purpose, they picked different natural antibiotics, which they mostly found in home, gardens or meadows and woods nearby.
Much of this came out of necessity. Rather than using an antibacterial facial scrub, our Nanas massaged honey deep into their pores. By using proven old home remedies, we can treat and cure various health problems and do a lot for our health avoiding unpleasant medications side effects, too.
Some of these remedies even date back thousands of years, as far back as the tribes of Central and South America. Now, perhaps with the advent of slow-living, these products are slipping back into style. Many appreciate the remedies for their simplicity, price, or their low-impact on the earth. Rather than spend $8 on sea salt spray, you can simple mix some salt with water and spritz it into your hair. You save money as well as a package.
In honor of our ancestors, we’ve gathered some of our favorite time-honored traditions. These timeless products have earned a permanent place in our pantries.
Raw garlic when crushed or chewed contains a compound called allicin – which has similar properties to penicillin.
This superfood member of the onion family is antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, anti-parasitic, anti-fungal, and antioxidant (mopping up free radicals that have been proven to cause cancer).
For more than seven millennia, it has been used internally and externally to treat mild illness to serious diseases.
Everything from inflammation to colds to serious infections is minimized and/or obliterated with the addition of garlic and for those who don’t enjoy the taste, there are supplements as well. Check into “aged” garlic supplements for the best results.
Garlic is not only potent, it contains a host of vitamins, nutrients, and minerals that are beneficial to total body wellness. Not to mention the cost is pennies in comparison to doctor visits and prescriptions!
Unlike chemical antibiotics that kill millions of friendly bacteria your body needs, its only goal is bacteria and microorganisms. Garlic also encourages and increases the level of healthy bacteria. It is a powerful antifungal agent and destroys any antigen, pathogen, and harmful disease-causing microorganisms.
The other day I was talking to a friend who lives in one of the Rocky Mountain states. It seems that they have an unusual heavy influx of voles this year. These voles have killed several of his young fruit trees by girdling them.
Now, I have talked to a surprising number of people who live in my area, who have never even heard of voles, even though they are fairly common. People are just not used to growing and having to depend on their gardens to survive. If they did, they would certainly know what animals in their area had the potential to destroy their crops. I know some who try to grow a garden and if they get lucky once, they think they are great gardeners and if the garden fails, they just give up and go to the store. So, how do you go about protecting your garden?
The solutions range from an all-natural spray, to repellant pellets, and hi-tech electronics that emit electronic sounds and flashing lights. I suspect that what works for one person in one situation won’t work for another somewhere else. Kind of like the year we were inundated with fleas and tried everything from diatomaceous earth to spray containing essential oils to outright flea-killing poison. Nothing worked, by the way. We just had to wait it out until winter arrived.
Now, if your family’s survival depends on the food you raise, it all changes. You have to take the time to learn about protecting your garden. What do you do when voles, woodchucks, squirrels, gophers, rabbits, moles, and other furry little mammals attack your gardens? I am sure your first impulse is to grab a shotgun like Elmer Fudd and blast them to smithereens. But there are better alternatives.
Start by identifying the animal that is causing the damage and then learn a little about the habits of that animal. This knowledge is essential for putting together an effective solution.
Make your garden less attractive to wildlife. Eliminate hiding or nesting areas, such as brush piles and tall grass. Seal off access to crawl spaces beneath your porch or deck. Minimize other food sources. Covering your compost pile will discourage raccoons, cleaning up bird seed will discourage squirrels, and using Milky Spore and beneficial nematodes on your lawn will reduce grub populations, which are a favorite food of moles and skunks.
A 4-foot-diameter circle around the base of young trees or vines that is free of vegetation or a buffer strip 4 feet or more along a row of trees can reduce problems, because voles and many other small animals prefer not to feed in the open.
Voles and meadow mice cause damage by feeding on a wide range of garden plants including artichoke, beet, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, carrot, cauliflower, celery, lettuce, spinach, sweet potato, tomato, and turnip.
On September 19th, 1778, the Continental Congress passed the first budget of the United States. While the budget may have passed, the states responded poorly to the call for taxes to fund the government, and the government resorted to printing paper money to cover debts. In effect, the first budget … Continue reading

Legendary investor Doug Casey, who has previously warned that we’re headed into the next Great Depression and that the speed of the collapse will leave most people waking up to the danger after it has happened, says that there are steps you can take now to prepare. He’s previously recommended that people get out of major cities and position themselves in such a way that you have basic survival essentials on hand when the dollar itself becomes worthless. As we move back into the hurricane Casey says that hard assets, namely gold and silver, will be the beneficiaries of what he refers to as panic buying when people realize that there are only a handful of assets that will preserve their wealth.
I think the potential is here for a climactic runaway mania in junior gold stocks… In all the time I have been in this market… since the early 1970’s… these junior stocks have consistently, as a group, gone up 1000%… an unbelievable number… they have done that on the upside and then they lose 95% on the downside when the cycle starts again…
I think this coming bull market that we’re in the early stages of is going to be the biggest of them all because the world economic situation is much more serious now… so there’s going to be a panic into gold and that’s going to flow over into these little gold stocks.
It looks like terrorists have finally figured out where to go to inflict mass casualties on the most innocent of Americans.
On the same day as two separate improvised devices were detonated in New Jersey and New York, a knife wielding terrorist dressed in a private security uniform and claiming allegiance to ISIS walked into the St. Cloud Crossroads Mall in Minnesota, asked passersby if they were Muslim, and then proceeded to stab them.
The man slashed at least eight people and had planned to hurt or kill more but he was stopped dead in his tracks by a lone individual with a concealed handgun.
There were eight victims taken to the St. Cloud Hospital’s Emergency Room. Seven have been released but one remains in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Chief Anderson then spoke at a press conference. He says there was only one assailant who came into the mall after 8 p.m. He reportedly made praises to Allah and one worker at the mall says victims were asked if they were Muslim before they were attacked. The suspect was later shot and killed by an off duty police officer from another law enforcement agency. Authorities believe the suspect was working alone.
Off duty police officer or civilian is of no matter. What matters is that he had a firearm with him and used it to stop someone who had, up until his death, intended to injure, maim or kill as many people as possible.
While we understand that politicians like Hillary Clinton want to disarm Americans and believe that only they deserve protection, the fact is that guns in the hands of law abiding American citizens save lives.
Terrorists should not be given safe spaces like gun free zones to inflict damage at venues that are often patronized by families.
(This article is dedicated to Dave, who fielded the question that is the topic of this piece)
An excellent question was asked by Dave, one of the commenters on SHTFplan pertaining to EMP’s (Electromagnetic Pulses) and their effects on vehicles. Here it is:
“SERIOUS QUESTION: IF there is an EMP attack on the continental United States; is there ANY way you could protect your car? This might seem like a stupid question; but IF an EMP Strike fries everything electronic; I figure you have approximately about 15 – 30 minutes before the Mushroom clouds start going off in every major American City. You guys on this board are pretty knowledgeable; and I thought if someone would know; it would be here. Thanks.”
So with that, where to begin? The first thing to remember is that although scientists have studied the Compton Effect (the actual effects resulting from an electromagnetic pulse generated either by an EMP weapon or a “standard” nuclear detonation) they are not able to ascertain a precise answer to exactly how the effect will proceed. Such is because there are many factors that will influence such an EMP, and these variables are not able to be measured or quantified in a precise manner.
Some of those factors are the weather patterns and the existence of electrical storms that could disrupt or alter the pulse. Geography, the time of the year, and solar activity are all factors that could affect a pulse. These are not variables that can be controlled, making it an “inexact” hypothesis. Knowing this, there is still information that can be used to make a few choices and take some actions from a personal perspective.
For some starters, Wikipedia has a comprehensive article entitled Nuclear Electromagnetic Pulse that will answer many questions about the nature of an EMP. Some case studies it mentions are the Starfish Prime test conducted by the U.S. and Soviet Test 184 by the USSR, both in 1962. The EMP produced by the tests knocked out streetlights 900 miles away (Starfish Prime) in Hawaii, and surges that knocked out power lines and started fires (Soviet Test 184). The tests are of interest because the U.S. and the Soviets actually conducted them to measure the effects of an EMP detonated at a high altitude. The Soviet tests in particular were made with smaller weapons of 300 kilotons.
This last statement is of significance because those tests were in 1962; today the world is much more adept at miniaturization of nuclear warheads for such a purpose as an EMP. Such is the reason that nations such as North Korea and Iran with their doctrines to employ a Super EMP weapon pose a threat…more than they would have fifty years ago. This is why we...

“Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us” – 1 Corinthians 5:6-7 (KJV)
UPDATE: 11:28PM Eastern
Mayor Bill de Blasio says there is no evidence that the explosion is connected to terrorism, though the Manhattan device was similar in nature to the pipe bomb device detonated in Seaside Park, New Jersey earlier Saturday. Police say the Seaside Park device exploded inside of a garbage as runners prepared for a Marine Corp charity event.
It has been reported that a similar device planted inside a garbage can was used in the Manhattan explosion (see below).

The FBI has taken over the investigation following a similar blast that rocked Seaside Park, New Jersey early Saturday:
Brad Cohen, the acting special agent in charge of the FBI’s office in Newark, declined to discuss the matter at length during a brief news conference staged Saturday evening.
He said the FBI is working side by side with federal, state and local officials to find out who is behind the device.

Several reported rebels were sitting together and appeared to be preparing for and celebrating a future attack when one of the men was so excited he just had to take a selfie. He grabs a cell phone of the table, positions for the perfect social media pic and takes a snap shot. A clicking noise can be heard, suggesting that the phone he used was a detonator for the IED explosion that immediately followed:

After he created a media furore when he “rickrolled” the media as part of his “birtherism” statement, Donald Trump had some more at Hillary’s expense, when on Friday night in Miami, he out-did his dramatic entrance at the RNC (where he entered the stage through a cloud of fog to Queen’s “We are the champions”) after his campaign projected an image behind his podium of the “Les Deplorables” meme, which originated on The_Donald subreddit. This time, the entrance music was “Do You Hear the People Sing?” from the musical Les Misérables.

Many of Trump’s most fervent fans have embraced the “basket of deplorables” label placed on them by Hillary Clinton at a fundraiser last weekend. Now, it appears the candidate has done the same. “Welcome to all of you deplorables,” he said at the top of his remarks.
And while Trump’s speech was notable for one again reaching out to black and hispanic voters, saying “our support comes from all regions, all backgrounds and all walks of life. You are cops and soldiers, carpenters and welders, accountants and lawyers, young and old, rich and poor, black white and Hispanic. But above all else, you are American”, what was perhaps most memorable was Trump’s redirection of the theme to Hillary’s gun control policies, when he said that the democratic presidential candidate wants to “destroy your Second Amendment.”
As a result, Trump called for disarming the bodyguards who protect Hillary, and mused about the consequences of such a move by saying “Let’s see what happens to her.” Trump contrasted his supporters, who he said back police and want crime reduced, to Clinton, who he derided as someone who “lives behind walls and raises money from hedge funds.”
“I think that her bodyguards should drop all weapons. They should disarm. I think they should disarm immediately, what do you think, yes?,” he said.
“Take their guns away, she doesn’t want guns. Take them, let’s see what happens to her. Take their guns away, okay. It will be very dangerous.”
Trump’s latest take on Clinton’s security detail once again brought swift condemnation, particularly from Clinton allies, even if not as forceful as the aftermath of a similar remark he made in August when he suggested that “Second Amendment people” could stop Clinton from nominating Supreme Court justices if she’s elected and told the NRA “let’s see how they feel walking around without their guns or their bodyguards.”
Fast forward one month when rebuke was swift again: “Tonight, Donald Trump once again alluded to violence against Hillary Cl...
