BIG ONE EARTHQUAKE IS VERY CLOSE "IndyWatch Feed Survival"

Hello all. I live in Ecuador and have studied earthquakes and its effects on structures for several decades. I went thru a 7.8 earthquake on April 16 2016 and it lasted 1'20s. It was a terrifying experience. Violent after shocks came a few days later. At 2:45 am we had a 6.3 earthquake and 15 minutes later we had a 6.9 and it was raining lightly. This strong activity lasted for a year I began studying the movement of earthquake in the continent. Within 2 minutes of the big one we had a...

Moscow Unveils A Monument To Kalashnikov, The AK-47s Designer "IndyWatch Feed Survival"

akstatue

A brand new statue of Mikhail Kalashnikov holding his signature AK-47 assault rifle was unveiled in Moscow on Tuesday.  The statue commemorates one of Russias most renowned inventions.

Kalashnikov is a staple name in Russia.  The history of the rifle though began almost 100 years ago when its designer was born. The inventor of the worlds most famous rifle was born into a Siberian peasant family in 1919. He was mechanically minded and first aspired to design farm equipment. But World War II called him into the army and he was wounded in the 1941 battle of Bryansk. While he was in the hospital recovering, he heard other soldiers saying their weapons were insufficient to those of the Nazis. So, Kalashnikov got to work designing his own rifle.

He made a successful rifle in 1947 for the Russian army. The infamous guns name (AK-47) commemorates the designer and the year of accomplishment. Avtomat Kalashnikova (19)47.

The AK-47 soon became widely popular for its adaptability to rugged conditions, including jungles, deserts, and the bitter cold. It is simple to operate and easy to maintain. With little training, users of this rifle can often field-strip an AK-47 in a half a minute.

The gun was quickly adopted by Soviet Bloc armies and the Soviet Union distributed them to the armies of ideological allies and revolutionary groups throughout Africa and Asia. Moscow also freely licensed other countries to produce local versions.

By some estimates, the AK-47 and its versions account for about one-fifth of the worlds firearms. The rugged and reliable weapon is the number one choice for many armies, terror groups, and history collectors worldwide.

In the words of Russian President Vladimir Putin: The Kalashnikov rifle is a symbol of the creative genius of our people. Or as Russias Culture Minister Vladimir Medinsky...

US Navy Will Use Xbox Controllers To Steer Submarine Periscopes "IndyWatch Feed Survival"

xbox

The Navy is going to use Xbox game console controllers to steer the periscopes in submarines. The new controllers would replace the chunky and expensive joysticks currently in use.

That joystick is by no means cheap, and it is only designed to fit on a Virginia-class submarine, said Senior Chief Mark Eichenlaub, the John Warners assistant navigator. I can go to any video game store and procure an Xbox controller anywhere in the world, so it makes a very easy replacement.

The joystick and the control panel that Lockheed Martin had developed to steer a periscope cost around $38,000. Not only that, but the joystick was heavy and clunky. It would take hours to train a sailor to use it. When the military contractor tested the Xbox controller as a replacement, sailors were able to...

Hillary Clinton May Question The Legitimacy Of The 2016 Election "IndyWatch Feed Survival"

hillary-pointing3

Hillary Clinton has officially opened the door to questioning the legitimacy of the 2016 presidential election the very election she lost. But she still claims its Russias fault Donald Trump won.

In an interview that aired Monday on NPR, Hillary Clinton she would not rule out questioning the legitimacy of the 2016 election if Russian interference is deeper than currently known. Unable to give up on the Russian hysteria she and other Democrats created out of thin air, the former presidential candidate is going to whine about it instead.

According to CNN, this just means Clinton firmly believes that Russia helped president Donald Trump win and she still isnt taking any responsibility for the fact that Americans just didnt want her to be the president. Clinton has said previously that she conceded to Trump quickly and attended his inauguration because the nations peaceful transfer of power is critical. But her comments to NPR signal that as the imaginary and completely made up depths of Russias alleged interference are revealed she could envision a time when she questions Trumps legitimacy as president.

Not that that is surprising at all. Most Democrats at some point have questioned Trumps legitimacy. This was happening since the very beginning when the media announced hed become the 45th president of the United States.

NPRs Terry Gross asked Clinton directly during the interview whether she would completely rule out questioning the legitimacy of this election if we learn that the Russian interference in the election is even deeper than we know now?

No. I would not, Clinton said. Gross asked: Youre not going to rule it out?

No, Clinton said. I wouldnt rule it out. ...

Russian Collusion: Hillary Clinton Invited Vladimir Putin To Pay For Play Event "IndyWatch Feed Survival"

crooked-hillary-clinton

In newly released emails which the mainstream media is willfully ignoring, Hillary Clinton invited Russian president Vladimir Putin to a Clinton Foundation event. The Russian collusion between Hillary Clinton is becoming very apparent.

Hillary Clinton likes to talk a tough game about Russian President Vladimir Putin. And she likes to put him on the list of those at fault for her loss in the election last November to Donald Trump. But that didnt stop her from inviting him and other top Russian officials to a Clinton Foundation gala right after she became Secretary of State.

Clinton Foundation director of foreign policy Amitabh Desai sent dozens of invitations to world leaders including then-Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, and Former President of the Soviet Union Mikhail Gorbachev, emails recently obtained by Judicial Watch revealed.

While Democrats blast any Republican who has the nerve to even look Russias direction, Hillary and her minions in the Clinton Foundation were begging the Russians to come to an event put on by the pay for play organization.  Hillary offered political favors in exchange for money filtered through the Clinton Foundation.

On March 13, 2009, Desai emailed the list of invitations to Assistant Secretary of State Andrew Shapiro, who then forwarded the email to top Clinton aide, Jake Sullivan. This happened at approximately the same time that the newly appointed Clinton tried to reset U.S. relations with Russia. Yet, Donald Trump has been blasted for trying to do the same thing. The propaganda in the media is becoming clear as they continue to brush this story under the rug too.

US Jets Dropped Live Bombs On Korean Peninsula In Massive Show Of Force "IndyWatch Feed Survival"

jetbomb

Its becoming apparent that the United States is getting frustrated with the continued nuclear tests done by North Korea. And to prove it, they dropped live bombs on the Korean Peninsula.

The Pentagon deployed a formation of 14 bombers and fighters over the Korean Peninsula on Sunday. This blatant show of force also included South Korean and Japanese aircraft. This most recent deployment of jets was in response to a missile launched over Japan on Thursday. The missile was the cause for much concern in Japan, and warnings were sent out to those who live on the island.

The warplanes were dispatched after North Korea launched a ballistic missile over northern Japan on Thursdaytriggering a widespread emergency alert for those who call the region home. Two Air Force B-1B bombers from Andersen Air Force Base in Guam and four Marine Corps F-35B fighters from Iwakuni, Japan, combined with four South Korean F-15K fighters and four F-2 Japanese fighters, U.S. defense officials said. Washington Post

The U.S. and Japanese jets flew in formation over waters near Kyushu, Japan, a southern portion of the country that is the closest major island to the Korean Peninsula. The aircraft used live bombs to carry out a simulated attack on the Pilsung training range in South Korea, a few dozen miles from the demilitarized zone separating the North and South.

If North Korea keeps on with this reckless behavior, if the United States has to defend itself or defend its allies in any way, North Korea will be destroyed, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley told CNN in an interview that aired Sunday. And we all know that, and none of us want that. Haley also commented that should the U.S. thoroughly exhaust diplomatic options, then all military options are on the table.

This newest show of force comes as President Trump prepared to deliver remarks for the first time today at the United Nations General Assembly....

Amazons Web Services Can Now Host The Governments Most Sensitive Data "IndyWatch Feed Survival"

amazon

Just recently, the Defense Department granted the cloud computing giant, Amazon,  a provisional authorization to host Impact Level 5 workloads, which are the military and the Pentagons most sensitive, unclassified information. Amazons web services can now host some of the governments most fascinating (to the public) and sensitive information.

This further bolsters AWS (Amazon Web Services) as an industry leader in helping support the DoDs critical mission in protecting our security, the company said in a statement. The AWS services support a variety of DoD (Department of Defense) workloads, including workloads containing sensitive controlled unclassified information and National Security Systems information.

But the DoD is already using Amazons services and this is not exactly new news. The DoD is using AWS to host sensitive, mission-critical workloads, including the operational control system for the Global Positioning System, or GPS. The provisional authorization allows military customers an easier route to use AWS for a variety of other IT services.

In total, three commercial companiesAWS, IBM and Microsoftare now able to host and store the militarys most sensitive unclassified data. AWS has expanded its defense business, it remains the dominant cloud service provider in the intelligence community by virtue of its $600 million contract with the Central Intelligence Agency. 7 Serious Infections from Contaminated Food and Water "IndyWatch Feed Survival"

7 Serious Infections from Contaminated Food and Water

Just Hanging Out (and I mean just hanging out)

Just Hanging Out (and I mean just hanging out)

Recently, I watched a few episodes of Naked and Afraid, a series that puts two individuals in extreme environments with few supplies and, for some reason, no clothes. In this program, many of the participants come down with various infections; some of which cause bowel disturbances. Life then becomes, well, even more miserable than walking around for three weeks naked in the jungle.

Epidemics characterized by diarrhea and dehydration have been a part of the human experience since before recorded history. Cholera is an example of one particularly dangerous infection that was epidemic in the past. It and other bacterial diseases, many of which are now rare, may once again become a problem in the uncertain future.

Off the grid, water quality is questionable and may lead to misfortune if not properly purified. Using bad water to cook food in a remote setting can also lead to major problems that manifest as diarrhea, and later, dehydration. When dehydration is not treated, deaths may occur.

typical bacteria

typical bacteria

Many diseases with diarrhea as the main symptom are caused by poor sanitation. These including the following:

Cholera: Caused by CTX, a toxin produced by the marine and freshwater bacterium Vibrio cholera. Cholera toxins produce a rapid onset of diarrhea and vomiting within a few hours to 2 days of infection. This was a major issue in Haiti after the earthquake there several years ago.

The diarrhea caused by cholera looks like water after rice has been cooked in it. In addition, victims complain of nausea, leg cramps, and other symptoms. The body water loss with cholera is so severe that it is associated with a sixty per cent death rate if untreated. Aggressive efforts to rehydrate the patient, however, drops the death rate to only one pe...

Apps Infected With Malware Are Secretly Stealing Money From People "IndyWatch Feed Survival"

Malware that secretly steals money from users has been downloaded by millions of people. The software is intentionally designed to steal money without people realizing they have been the victims of a theft.

ExpensiveWall is software designed to cheat users out of their money without them realizing it. The malware was hidden in at least 50 apps in the Google Play store. The malwares been dubbed ExpensiveWall after hiding inside wallpaper apps. (A list of apps can be found further down.)

According to the Check Point researchers who discovered it, ExpensiveWall has been downloaded between one million and 4.2 million times but since its hidden in apps, it is difficult to tell exactly how many have been affected.

The malware registers victims to premium services without their knowledge and sends fraudulent premium SMS messages, charging their accounts for fake services, the researcherssaid. In some cases, the SMS activity takes place without giving the user any notice. In other cases, the malware presents the user with a button called Continue, and once the user clicks the button, the malware sends a premium SMS on [their] behalf.

DIY Winter Water Heaters For Chicken Coop "IndyWatch Feed Survival"

If youre a chicken farmer, you may already know that chickens actually thrive in colder temperatures, as theyre designed with a unique ability. They are excellent at regulating their body temperatures way better than humans actually.

DIY Winter Water Heaters

However, with the winter upon us, it would be nice to help our little feathered friends as much as we can. The thing is that during the winter, your chickens require water in order to generate body heat, so its still crucial that they receive an adequate supply of fresh, clean, unfrozen water. Going without water for even a couple of hours can decrease egg production for up to 2 days.

DIY Winter Water Heaters For Chicken Coop

Keep Your Chickens Hydrated During Winter

Dehydration sets in quickly with chickens, especially in extremely cold environments. Even though your hens will drink significantly less water during the winter about 3 times less on average than in the summer its critical that you keep your girls properly hydrated during the winter.

Also, depending on where you live, wintertime survival for your chickens can be anything from a walk in the park and a day of busting bricks, if you know what I mean.

Another fact is that chickens are basically 65 percent water and shuffling back and forth to the chicken coop 3 or 4 times a day carrying heavy buckets of water in freezing cold and/or heavy snow is pretty far from my idea of having quality time during the winter months.

The problem with harsh winters and chicken coops is that water tends to freeze rather quickly in sub-freezing temps. Since your chickens need water on a daily basis, youll have to find a way to provide it to them without breaking your back in the process.

Water is involved in all aspects of poultry metabolism, which essentially means that if they dont get enough of it, your girls will not be able to regulate their body temperature properly among other things (food digestion, body waste management etc).

Also, water is very important in the production of eggs, as an egg is made roughly from 74 percent water. If your girls dont have access to enough clean/fresh water, you can kiss your egg...

Hillary Clinton: Women Only Voted For Trump Because Their Husbands Told Them To "IndyWatch Feed Survival"

hillary-incompetent

Hillary Clintons delusions continue. Its been almost a year since the election, and now Hillarys blaming married women who voted for Donald Trump for her loss to the president back in November.

Still unwilling to take any responsibility for her loss to Donald Trump, Hillary continues to play the blame game.  So far, shes blamed everyone from her most trusted advisor, Huma Abedin, to the infamous socialist and fellow democrat Bernie Sanders, for the disastrous campaign and ridiculous ideas she championed last year. But she doesnt stop there anymore. Now its the fault of married women who voted for Donald Trump.

According to the Daily Wire, the quintessential modern feminist Clinton says women were too scared to stand up to their husbands, boyfriends, and fathers, who told them to vote Republican, and since, clearly, women have no agency or ability to think for themselves, they listened.  Of course, thats according to Hillary. But she blamed socialist women as well. Clinton made the outrageous claims in an interview with NPR, where she also blamed the so-called Bernie Bros for bullying Democratic women into avoiding the more moderate Clinton in favor of the socialist, Bernie Sanders.

You yourself in the book acknowledge that a good number of young women didnt vote for you, which is presumably not a sexist choice. They just werent inspired by your message, NPRs Rachel Martin said during an interview with Clinton, out to promote her litany of excuseserrecently released book, What Happened. I think its a lot more complicated than that, Clinton answered. I did win the womens vote. I didnt win the vote of white women, but I got more white women votes than Barack Obama did, she said.

Women will have no empathy for you because they will be under tremendous pressure and Im talking principally about white women they will be under tremendous pressure from fathers, and...

The Equifax Hack Is The Most Disastrous Data Breach In History Because Now Hackers Have The Credit Information Of 143 Million Americans "IndyWatch Feed Survival"

This report was originally published by Michael Snyder at The Economic Collapse

hack

Talk about a nightmare. It is being reported that criminals were able to hack into Equifax and make off with the credit information of 143 million Americans. We are talking about names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, home addresses and even drivers license numbers. If this data breach was an earthquake, we would be talking about a magnitude-10.0 on the identity theft scale. We have never seen anything like this before, and to say that this will be disastrous for the credit industry would be a massive understatement.

What really disturbed me about this story is that this hack reportedly occurred between mid-May and July of this year

Credit monitoring company Equifax has been hit by a high-tech heist that exposed the Social Security numbers and other sensitive information about 143 million Americans. Now the unwitting victims have to worry about the threat of having their identities stolen.

The Atlanta-based company, one of three major U.S. credit bureaus, said Thursday that criminals exploited a U.S. website application to access files between mid-May and July of this year.

So why didnt we learn about this until September?

Somebody out there really needs to answer that question for us.

And even though the 143 million number is being thrown around constantly, according to USA Today we may never know the true number of victims

When asked if theres a way to quantify how many people have been harmed, John Ulzheimer, a credit expert and former employee at Equifax and credit score firm FICO, said: Theres no way to know, and there may never be a way to know.

Personally, I dont see how Equifax can possibly survive after this. Their stock price is already crashing, and now it has come out that they had put a...

Cooking & Eating Wild Mustard "IndyWatch Feed Survival"

wild mustardLearn about the plants in your area. I live in Northern California and every spring you see acres of yellow flowers.  Most people ignore them, but a few know that you are looking at wild mustard.  They are good to eat and you can make mustard from them.

Some people eat the flowering tops just before they open.  They are cooked like broccoli.  My wife was raised eating the leaves.  The tender young leaves are used for cooked greens or in salads.

To Cook, wash the greens well and cook in salted water. Wild mustard can be somewhat sharp when raw and somewhat bitter when cooked. Blanching it or boiling it in water for a few minutes will remove the bitterness (the longer you boil the less bitter itll be).   It can be used like spinach in any recipe.

The seeds are black and can be used to make mustard.  They can also be used in pickling. We are going to experiment with making mustard and will post the recipe in the future.

Chickens and the rabbits love the dried stalks as a treat in the spring and summer.

Wild Mustard grows in most of the U.S. You will see it in the spring to early summer.

Mustard plants are most easily identified by their small and plentiful yellow flowers, growing in clusters atop a long stem.  If you look carefully at this picture, youll see that each of the flowers has four small yellow petals, and theyre in a cluster

If you have any doubts as to the identity of the plants I recommend you review the video at the following link

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXqYbWMBzqM

A good rule in foraging for wild plants is to always find a local expert to learn from, there are lots of poisonous plants out there.

Arkansas Woman Nearly Dies From Spider Bite "IndyWatch Feed Survival"

brownrecluse

A woman from Arkansas was left on the brink of death after being bitten by a poisonous baby spider. As she slept, Claressa Coleman was bitten by a brown recluse, and it almost cost her her life.

Speaking for the first time about her terrifying ordeal, Coleman said, I cant believe a baby spider nearly killed me! She felt a little pinprick in the night, and she assumed she had been bitten by a mosquito. She was unaware of the tell-tale symptoms of a brown recluse bite, such as the black mark where she was bitten and the bouts of vomiting. But the blood tests confirmed the doctors suspicions. Coleman was allergic to the baby spiders poison, which caused her kidneys to fail. She also had convulsions in her stomach every five minutes, leading doctors to believe she could be pregnant.

coleman

Colemans entire body swelled and she became almost unrecognizable. Doctors gave the 29-year-old woman blood tests and dye injections which indicated she had the poison from the notorious brown recluse spider in her body. The arachnid is one of North Americas three venomous spiders, alongside the black widow and Chilean recluse. Doctors believe that Coleman was bitten by a baby spider despite the fact that its impact on her body was far from small.

The spider had bitten directly into an artery, injecting its poison straight into her bloodstream, so it raced through her body quickly making her much iller and more susceptible to its venom. She was also allergic to the venom, which made her month-long hospital stay agonizing.

North Koreas Nuclear Tests Could Trigger A Super Volcano "IndyWatch Feed Survival"

Following North Koreas sixth nuclear test, nations across the globe are ramping up defense systems and bracing for the worst. But it isnt only radioactive risks scientists are worried about now. North Koreas nuclear tests could disturb mountains in the Changbai range, along with the still-active Mt. Paektu, triggering the first eruption since 1903.

I was a member of the NASA Advisory Council on Planetary Defense which studied ways for NASA to defend the planet from asteroids and comets, explains Brian Wilcox of Nasas Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) at the California Institute of Technology. I came to the conclusion during that study that the supervolcano threat is substantially greater than the asteroid or comet threat.

According to Newsweek, Chinese authorities closed part of their border as radiation fallout fears intensified in the wake of North Koreas sixth test. China has limited access to a nature reserve on its border with North Korea after a mysterious series of seismic shakes at the rogue nations nuclear test site were detected less than 10 minutes after it conducted its latest test, which also triggered a sizable tremor. The severity of the tremors prompted Beijing to close the site over fears that underground detonations by the North Koreans at a facility near Punggye-ri could lead to rockslides, or worse, trigger an eruption of the active supervolcano Mount Paektu, according to Disclose.tv.

The volcanic site, which is sacred to North Korea,  is located right on its border with China. Chinas closure is in effect for a 70-mile-radius around the detonation site. A blast from this supervolcano could be catastrophic, with ash traveling thousands of miles, potentially causing hundreds of thousands of deaths.

A new article in scientific journal Natures Scientific Reports states that an underground nuclear explosion test near an active volcano constitutes a direct threat. Scientists wrote that it c...

Canada has a pot problem, as Quartz Media recently warned us, but its a lucrative problem to have. One thing holding back this $8-billion market (Forbes Magazine, April 13, 2017) is supply, and one little-known company plans to be the steward of it in a big way.

When Canada legalizes recreational marijuana in less than a year, in line with a bill pushed through by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, legal supply is likely to be limited. There may not even be enough even if we are only considering medical marijuana usage.

The supply picture is so fantastically tight that Health Canada has had to streamline the approval process for growers because medical marijuana users have tripled in number since last year alone, according to Quartz. When it becomes legal recreationally, a Deloitte report estimates the economic  impact will be worth $22.6 billion annuallyin other words, more than the combined sales of beer, wine and spirits.

Meet Cannabis Wheaton (TSX:CBW.V; OTC:KWFLF), the worlds first cannabis streaming company, backed by a powerhouse team, with the biggest industry trailblazer leading the way.

Not only is Cannabis Wheaton jumping into a huge potential market where supply is forecast to struggle to reach demand, but its offering a lifeline to new and existing growers who need financing to get off the ground fast.

Producers need a miracle grow strategy, and Cannabis Wheaton is stepping in to fill the gap with a royalty business model that is new to this market.

And for investors, the major upside is that this model removes the risks associated with putting all your money into a single-crop producer.

Cannabis Wheaton is intending to stream pot, and 15 partners have already been li...
